Aphids
Visible tiny greenish-yellow plant lice that
suck vital juices. They cluster on new growth and on buds.
Can be knocked off with soapy water or if
needed use Malathion or Rose & Flower Insecticide. Controls must directly touch
aphids.

Thrips
Microscopic insects that puncture buds
causing discoloration and failure to open.
Dust or spray often with floral insecticides
or Malathion, especially on new growth.

Leaf Cutting Bees
These bees tear circular pieces off the
leaves, but secondly the larvae bore into ends of pruned stems.
Cut off infested shoot, slice it open and
kill larvae. Spray foliage with floral insecticide or dust and seal ends with wax after
pruning.

Cane Borers
Enters canes where pruning has occurred. The
hole will be a visible sign.

kill borers. Spray foliage with floral insecticide and seal ends with wax after pruning.

Rose Midges
A tiny maggot that bores into the plant
causing new shoots to blacken and causing the necks of buds to crook at right angles.
If you've seen signs of this dust with Rose
& Floral Dust on new growth. When buds appear, apply more dust at 7 day intervals.

Black Spot
A fungus causing black spots on leaves. A halo appears around the black spot and soon the leaf turns yellow and falls off.
Remove black spotted leaves, burn or safely discard them. Use a fungicidal spray, or Captan dust. Prevention: water in the morning being careful not to spray foliage.

Rose Canker
A fungus that enters a wound causing brown patches on canes and killing the cane above the
spot.
Prune off diseased canes one inch below the canker. If seriously diseased, remove plant and dispose.

Rust
Orange powder on buds or leaves. Caused by too much moisture.
Control with commercial fungicide.

Mildew
Whitish fungus that covers your roses caused by wet weather.
Spray with fungicide or use a commercial rose and floral dust.for prevention plant garden where air circulation is good.
