Participation in class and completion of assignments is required to maintain a high grade.

Exams: Exams will be given at the end of each unit.  Exams will be written and consist of a variety of matching, multiple-choice, short answer, and essay questions.

Quizzes:  Quizzes will be given on an as-needed basis.  However, expect a quiz after reading an assigned chapter.

Daily Assignments: Assignments vary widely from in-class participation activities to worksheets to projects.  The most important thing to remember is to complete the assignments and TURN THEM IN.

Homework: Homework will consist of a variety of activities including reflection and discussion questions for the family

Projects: Projects vary throughout the year.  Some may be small, others large. The first project will be a presentation on an historical time period of the church.

Portfolios: I require that you keep a notebook.  The organization of the notebook may be of your choosing either by themes or by type of assignment.  At the end of each nine week period you will complete a checklist for the portfolio and choose your best assignments for additional review.

Service Hours:  Service hours will be calculated as a part of your overall religion grade.  These hours must be documented and performed outside of school hours.

Mass Participation:  Participation in mass is one of the precepts of the church.  Therefore, part of your religion grade will be based on daily mass participation and performance of a “job” at Sunday mass one time each month including (but not limited to) lector, server, cantor/choir, usher, gift bearer.

Extra Credit/Curves: While I may give limited opportunities for extra credit at various points during the year, I do not believe in nor will I curve exams.

Copying/Cheating:  Any detection of copying or cheating during the year will be dealt with harshly.  I am flexible and understanding.  There is no need to use another student’s work to complete an assignment.

Late Assignments:  Assignments will be considered late if turned in after the due date.  Late assignments will be docked 10% of the original points possible.  Assignments turned in one week after the due date will receive no credit.

Schedule of Assignment/Activities: In an effort to help both you and me, I will attempt to devise and hand out a unit schedule at the beginning of each unit.  Keep these in your notebooks and change them as needed.  Also, these schedules will be a good reference for what is due and when.
