The Mitchell County Hospital is a 49-bed general acute care facility with an attached 40-bed long term care unit. The hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and is owned by the county and leased for operation to Great Plains Health Alliance. The Mitchell County Health Department has a complete community nursing program which encompasses all age groups, all diseases, categories, healthy individuals, and all economic groups.  Services are provided on a family-centered basis for individuals and groups--at home, at work, at school, and in public health centers (clinics).

The department began in January, 1977, after receiving the approval of the voters of Mitchell County.

The Health Department is governed by the people of Mitchell County as represented by the Board of County Commissioners.

Your participation is welcomed on our advisory board.

No one is ever refused service because of inability to pay.

A community-based regional rehabilitation center serving people who have a wide range of disabilities.  Efforts are concentrated on linking with businesses and the community to develop employment and residential options for adults as well as offering support for their families.  An assistive technology center works with people of all   ages to live, work, and play as independently as possible.

- MJL Division opened in Beloit in 1976. It offers vocational services for people with developmental disabilities. Services include employment in the community with the support of a job coach and/or employment within a production facility. MJL provides support to people with disabilities, their families, and to the community to enhance the quality of life for all of Beloit’s citizens.
